We’re on the lookout for a commercially savvy, people first Business Manager to act as a strategic partner and operational driver for our Ponsonby based professional services firm.
This role is about lifting performance across the business while ensuring our people and clients remain the top priority.
You’ll work closely with the Directors as their go to operational lead, taking care of people, systems and execution so they can stay focused on clients and high value advisory work.

What you’ll be doing...
Strategy & delivery
Turn the Directors’ vision into clear priorities, KPIs and practical outcomesWork alongside the Advisory/Projects Lead to deliver firm wide initiativesLead annual and quarterly planning across growth, people, tech and servicesDrive continuous improvement and support positive change across the firm
Technology, AI & automation
Own the firm’s IT and practice management systems, making sure they’re secure, efficient and future readyLead the rollout of AI, automation and digital tools to reduce manual work and lift efficiencyManage IT providers and technology partnersSpot opportunities to improve workflow, reporting and client experience through smarter tech
People & performance
Lead the team day to day, including Accounting Team Leaders and Admin Support FunctionRun performance reviews, KPIs, training plans and career pathwaysManage recruitment, onboarding, wellbeing, payroll and HR adminBuild a strong, accountable on site culture (five days a week)
Financials, compliance & governance
Oversee team and firm financial performance, budgets, AFAs and deadlinesKeep WIP, job management and reporting on trackPrepare board packs, run monthly meetings and follow up on actionsSupport AML audits, practice reviews and compliance requirements
Business operations
Make sure business as usual runs smoothly across admin, suppliers, facilities, insurance and systemsOversee billing, debtor management, cashflow and tax deadlinesSupport marketing and internal/external communications as needed
About you
You’re a confident leader who can hold people to account while still building trust and strong relationships.
Experience leading operations in a professional services or accounting environmentSolid understanding of practice management systems, workflows and ITComfortable using dashboards, reporting tools and digital platformsExperience implementing AI and automation to improve efficiencyStrong commercial and financial acumen; you know how to turn numbers into actionA clear, calm communicator who enjoys improving how things are doneSomeone who works naturally alongside Directors and senior leaders
