Are you an experienced BAS Accountant looking to work closer to home in a supportive, down-to-earth environment where community values and professional excellence go hand in hand? We’re on the lookout for a passionate and capable accounting professional to join our well-established and growing practice based in the heart of Franklin.

About Our Client
Our client is a locally owned accounting and advisory firm committed to helping small to medium-sized businesses across the Franklin region succeed. The clients are a mix of tradespeople, family businesses, and growing enterprises — many of whom the practice has supported for years. Taking pride in the strong local relationships and valuing being part of a tight-knit community where trust, respect, and reliability matter.

The Role
As a BAS Accountant, you’ll play a key role in providing tailored accounting, compliance, and advisory services to a range of clients. This is more than just a number-crunching role — we’re looking for someone who enjoys building long-term client relationships, can explain complex concepts clearly, and adds real value to the businesses.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Preparing GST returns, annual financial statements, and tax returns

  • Working closely with clients on cash flow, budgeting, and tax planning

  • Supporting business clients with Xero and other cloud-based accounting systems

  • Assisting with IRD queries and general business advisory

  • Building strong, lasting relationships with clients and the wider team

What We’re Looking For:

  • 3+ years of BAS experience in a New Zealand accounting practice

  • Solid understanding of NZ tax compliance and SME business needs

  • Confident working with Xero (or similar) and MS Office

  • Strong communication skills and a proactive attitude

  • Someone who enjoys being part of a local community and values work-life balance

What We Offer:

  • A warm, people-first culture with flexibility and trust

  • Beautiful semi-rural surroundings with easy parking and no long commute

  • Ongoing professional development and career growth opportunities

  • Competitive salary and a team that genuinely supports one another

  • Flexible start and finish times (5 days office based)
